AMBULATORY RIDES

A planned ride for passengers who can walk

Ambulatory service can be requested for medical visits, recurring appointments and planned destinations. Tell us whether the passenger uses a cane or walker and what help is needed between the door and the vehicle.

Transportation for passengers who do not need to travel seated in a wheelchair. A cane or walker can be discussed as part of your request.

For an emergency call 911

AmeriCare provides non-emergency transportation. If you or the passenger is having a medical emergency, dial 911 immediately. Do not use this website or a quote or ride-request form to request emergency assistance.

Tell us what support is needed

Explain the assistance needed at both pickup and drop-off. Door-through-door service can be discussed when the passenger needs help through an entrance, rather than only between the outside door and the vehicle.

Share whether the passenger uses a mobility aid, needs extra time to board, will travel with a companion or needs help reaching the pickup point. We will confirm the service arrangements before booking.

Match the ride to the appointment

Provide the appointment time and destination check-in requirements, rather than only a preferred pickup time. This helps the team discuss an appropriate departure.

Assistance for your journey

We offer door-to-door and door-through-door service, including assistance from the passenger’s door to the vehicle. A caregiver or family member can ride along; let us know when booking so we can arrange seating.

AmeriCare is licensed to operate within the state of Maryland. Each of our drivers is trained and certified in CPR and First Aid.

One way, round trip or wait and return

A one-way trip covers one journey. For a round trip, provide both legs and the return arrangement. Wait and return is useful when you want to coordinate the appointment and return together; include the expected visit length and whether the finish time is known. Waiting charges, extra stops and return timing are confirmed with your quote.

Let’s plan your next ride

A caregiver or family member can accompany the passenger. Let us know when booking so seating can be arranged. Payment is accepted by all major credit cards or cash; AmeriCare does not accept insurance or Medicaid.

Tell us where you’re going, when you need to travel and what assistance you need. AmeriCare will confirm availability, the fare and pickup details before your trip.
